Who can take part in TLT?

The Tomorrow's Leaders Today application process is open to any student who will be entering their junior year at Santa Rosa, Healdsburg, Cloverdale, Windsor, or Petaluma

Applicants should be interested in learning more about our community, and have some experience with volunteering and/or helping others.

"Working with TLT for many years is personally rewarding, and gives all of us great confidence in our future leaders."

-- Rod Dole, Sonoma County Auditor

Selection of participants is made through a competitive process that includes a written application with three references and a 15–20 minute interview.

Is there a fee to take part in TLT?

Tuition is $500, which can be paid in 1, 2 or 4 payments spread out over the school year. Students are asked to earn $100 of the tuition as their contribution. Scholarships are available to qualified students, and students are accepted into the program without regard to their financial status. All interested students are encouraged to apply.

How is the TLT program structured?

Tomorrow's Leaders Today (TLT) is a 9-month community involvement program patterned after the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce Leadership Santa Rosa program. Each month, successful applicants spend a day with community leaders and experts visiting sites where they practice leadership skills, problem solving techniques, and teamwork.

When and where does TLT meet?

TLT meets one day each month for 9 months from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM. An overnight retreat is held in September, and a graduation celebration in May. The location of each meeting is different, depending on the nature of the program day. For example, Agriculture and Natural Resources Day includes a visit to a dairy and the SRJC farm.

How can I find out more about TLT?

Representatives meet with sophomores at each school. School counselors have information, as well, or visit our website for updated information.

When are selections made?

Graduates from an adult leadership program and TLT alumni conduct interviews with each applicant during May. Their goal is to get to know the applicants, and to create a diverse class of students who can benefit from the program, and contribute to the program. Interview questions have no right or wrong answers, and are based on students' interests and experiences.
