Tomorrow’s Leaders Today was founded in 1991. Our mission is developing and encouraging youth to be community leaders. Today over 1,000 TLT graduates are fulfilling this mission.
What is Tomorrow’s Leaders Today?
Tomorrow’s Leaders Today (TLT) is a community education and leadership skills training program for students entering their junior year in Santa Rosa, Healdsburg, Windsor and Petaluma school districts in Sonoma County, California. Originally a program of the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce, Tomorrow’s Leaders Today is now a 501c3 non-profit corporation that is patterned after the adult program, Leadership Santa Rosa.
Each month during the school year, successful applicants spend a day with community leaders and experts visiting sites where they practice leadership skills, problem solving techniques and teamwork. The program year kicks off with an orientation for the parents, and a retreat focusing on team building and leadership skills, discussing community issues and having fun getting to know one another.
Throughout the academic year, students take part in eight TLT program days exploring current issues, challenges and opportunities in:
- Agriculture & Natural Resources
- Law Enforcement
- Human Services
- Government
- Health
- Planning & Development
- Business & Tourism
- Media & Communications.
The program year closes with a graduation celebration of the TLT experience for students and their parents.
TLT’s goal is to bring young leaders into active community roles that will continue throughout their adult lives, and it is sanctioned by the Santa Rosa, Windsor, Healdsburg and Petaluma school districts, and accredited by Santa Rosa Junior College.
