A Survey of TLT Graduates
A former TLT student who received her Masters in Public Policy from Duke University, was waiting for clearance to join the Foreign Service and offered to survey former TLT students. Her work gave us feedback on the value of TLT:
- 88% said TLT impacted their career and/or academic choices.
- 79% currently volunteer and
- 87% felt that TLT impacted their community service.
Here’s what former participants said about the TLT experience:
“Tomorrow’s Leaders Today was a great, all-around tool to educate students about different processes in the community. It helped me see the people involved in the government, or in community development, and speaking to these people made me realize that I was entirely capable of affecting my community in a positive way.”
— Becky L.
“Tomorrow’s Leaders Today enables me to see that being a leader is all about taking the initiative to mobilize myself and others toward necessary action. TLT showed me that not only is it okay for me to step up to the plate when the opportunity or need presents itself, but that it is at times necessary. It’s a call of duty in the hopes of making things better.”
— Bobby P.
“The immediate benefit that I gained through participating in Tomorrow’s Leaders Today was an education about my community, how different things work, who plans them, who makes the decision, how it affects lives in the community, etc. I have drawn on the knowledge I gained through TLT more times than I can count.”
